We don't really have any images of guards or knights from The Golden Kingdom I don't think. But we can assume their armor looked something like the living armors (or maybe exactly), since the kensuke monster tidbits might mean they mimic real armor (the bit about the wandering spirit of the king)

Plus the fact the big one has a Winged Lion motif, that would make sense for the golden kingdom. They might both be for "display" tho and not actually worn (especially the big one cause it's so ornated) and the knights probably didn't wear full-plate regularly

I asked @room-surprise about it and they had some insight I think could be useful for you oc creation (thank uu!)

"The maid saw Kensuke and because of that assumed Laios was a guard but that's historically accurate - usually there wasn't a 'uniform''. Uniforms didn't start to exist until MUCH Much later"

"Individuals would just wear small signals or colored cloth bits to identify which side they were on. Dungeon Meshi is in a weird transitional time period though - but point is, wouldn't be unusual for guards to all have somewhat unique outfits"

"Basically the Roman Empire had uniforms, and then nobody had uniforms again until around 1600-1700, and the Roman "uniform" had a lot of variation - similar to the Canary uniform where individual soldiers wore their clothes the way they liked, but you could still tell they were mass produced"

"For an OC I would suggest they give them some colorful cloth on top of whatever armor or chain mail they are wearing! like even just a red scarf or a tabard with a symbol on it would be historically accurate that's how you would identify who you work for"

I may not be qualified to do this (see reasons above) but I do like making lists.

Please note that I’m not trying to genuinely criticize any of the designs, this is all just for funsies! :3 Also my rating scale is very subjective and arbitrary.

Normal Outfit: 5.5/10

—If I'm being real it’s a little goofy,, maybe it’s the stripes

—It’s funny that this is one of his less revealing outfits, and it’s at a point where he hates Chase (having your boobs out as a metaphor for trust or something)

Toffee Break: 8.5/10

—I really like the gemstones and the headband, so shiny!!

—Idk I just think this one is nice

—Extra points for cat

—The chest window here was a gateway drug for him showing more skin in all the other outfits

—Oh wow I like the sparkly outfit with gems/crystals who could’ve guessed

—The patterns!!

—And it’s blue!! I think he should wear other colors more often, they look good on him

He wiped the sweat off his face with his sleeve, scanning the pitch out of habit, when he noticed his teammates, Lamine, Hector, and Marc, huddled together over Lamine’s phone.

They were laughing in a way that suggested mischief, never a good sign.

"Pau," Lamine called, turning toward him with a grin that could only mean trouble.

"What is it now?" Pau asked, his tone tinged with suspicious amusement.

Marc could barely keep a straight face as he took the phone from Lamine. "Have you seen what your mother has been posting?"

Pau frowned, straightening in his seat. "No, why?"

Marc stepped closer and held the phone out for Pau to see. On the screen was a picture of his mother and you, standing in front of a boutique, arms draped with shopping bags, both of you smiling like you didn’t have a care in the world.

"When was this?" Pau asked, blinking in confusion, a slight smile forming on his face.

"Today," Hector chimed in, his grin growing. "Keep scrolling."

Pau swiped to the next image, which showed you and his mother at a cafe. The two of you were mid laugh, drink cups in hand, clearly enjoying yourselves.

"You didn’t know they were spending the day together?" Lamine asked, unconvinced.

"No, I didn’t," Pau replied, shaking his head. "Neither of them mentioned anything about it."

"That’s rough," Marc said, with mock pity. "They’ve probably been planning this for weeks, and you’re out here sweating through drills while they bond."

Lamine grinned. "Honestly, I’m impressed. Your girlfriend’s managed to win over your mom so easily, and you’re completely out of the question."

Hector leaned back on the bench, arms crossed, his expression amused. "They’re out there living their best lives together, and you didn’t even get a heads up."

Pau handed the phone back with a quiet laugh, shaking his head. "What do you want me to say? They’re obviously enjoying themselves."

"Enjoying themselves?" Marc repeated, eyebrows raised. "Pau, this is more than that. Your mom has practically adopted her."

"And you’re not worried about it at all?" Lamine asked, clearly fishing for a reaction.

"Why would I be?" Pau replied, his tone even, though a faint smile tugged at the corners of his mouth. "If anything, I think it’s a good thing."

Marc groaned dramatically. "Of course you do. She’s already your mother’s favorite, and you’re just here to carry the shopping bags when necessary."

"You’re making it sound like a bad thing," Pau defended calmly.

Lamine leaned forward, pretending to whisper conspiratorially. "Next time we see them, they’ll probably be wearing matching outfits."

Pau shrugged, unfazed. "And? If they are, I’ll tell them they look beautiful."

The boys stared at him, momentarily speechless. Pau took advantage of the silence, a grin on his face.

"Unbelievable," Héctor said, shaking his head. "You’re really not bothered?"

"Not even slightly," Pau replied. "She’s someone my mother approves of and cares for. That’s all that matters."

The teasing only escalated after that, Hector and Marc mimicking exaggerated phone calls to Pau's mother while Lamine doubled over with laughter. Pau let them have their fun, his smile never fading.

As they finally began to head back to the pitch, Marc clapped Pau on the back. "You’re a better man than I am. I’d be worried they’re plotting against me."

Pau laughed softly. "If they are, I’m sure it’s for the best."

With that, he jogged ahead to rejoin the drills, leaving his teammates shaking their heads in disbelief.

For all their teasing, Pau knew one thing for certain; having you and his mother get along so well was something to be proud of.

You meet Boogeyman in front of Las Nevadas, It is a beautiful place really...very bright too, a bit too much for you.

You would say he's in formal attire but he wears a suit and tie wherever he goes so It's hard to tell the difference. He offers you his hand and the two of you make your way inside, as you enter the main building a man covered in green slime lets you in and leads the two of you to a more secluded room. Mumbo seems to know who he is so you don't question why you are just following this random slime guy.

"Did you know I have more then 200 bones?"

Oh you can tell this guy is fun, Boogeyman just looks taken aback though.

"Excuse me, mate?"

"Do you have more then two hundred bones Boogeyman from Hermittopia?"

"I would say so-"

"Dap me up!"

Mumbo slowly reaches out in a punching motion and slowly does a very akward fist bump. The slime man then turns to you.

"Oh sorry, didn't see you there Mother Spore from- ...Mother Spore from... ... ... ..."

Then he just smiles before turning and leaving. . . What.

There are a bunch of different people in various outfits already waiting at the table when you arrive... You lean towards Mumbo and whisper to him.

"Boogeyman, do you know these people already?"

"Not personally, no, but I know of them...they are villains from outside Hermittopia, I had to research some of them in the past."

"Hmm..."

Mumbo points to the various people around the table.

"The clown themed one is Jester, used to go by Pierce as a vigilante before becoming a villain... then is Xonorth, power allows him to create tendrils of darkness. Then are Pharaoh, Doctor Rat and Mot who is also called the Cretin and at one point was named Green man."

"Those are a lot of names for one person" You say, like the hypocrite you are.

"Tell me about it, imagine trying to research the guy."

Suddenly the door opens once more, a man with hair darker then night and wings golden like Sheriff's albeit smaller and with a slightly different shape enters the room. Oh wait, those are duck wings! Strangely adorable for what you assume is a villain of some kind.

"Good evening everyone, it is a pleasure to see that you all accepted my invite"

"What can I say, you calling us in the first place was unexpected" Jester says while placing his hands on the table.

"Yes, you never seemed like the collaborafive type Q" Pharaoh adds off handedly.

"Oh you wound me, I just had an offer I believe you'll find very interesting"

"Oh?" The green man perks up at that.

"Why yes! I assume all of you have heard of the eggpire."

...

You kinda...haven't, but judging from Mumbo's body language he definitely does...and so do the other, oh yeah these guys hate them... except Xonorth who just looks disinterested.

The Doctor moves closer to the winged man, movement similiar to that of ink... It's actually a bit weird to describe but you are also definitely going to be learning to do it. "I'm listening".

The others,one by one, nod along.

"Perfect, I knew you would see my point, now. Time to iron out the details"

Oh my this is getting exciting, so disappointing that your other body along with the vigilantes are approaching... going to run the fun for yourself.

*Grian's (Poultryman) pov*

You fly right behind Flame, behind you is Seraphin who is also flying and who decided to carry Wormman himself.

Las Nevadas is still at a pretty far distance when you start to wonder how much these vigilantes know. You fly a bit faster and lower yourself towards the ground to get to Flame's level so you glide next to him.

"So. How many villains are we going to fight, might be good to know."

"Boogeyman, Jester and Quakity"

... Huh...not wrong but there are definitely people missing.

"Just those three?"

"That's what our source said, It's supposed to be a small meeting of some kind... We also realized Mother Spore might be there as well.

"Oh... I see"

You don't know who their source is but it must be severely lacking in the "informing" department because you know there are more villains waiting, around double that amount... You are currently quite literally having a meeting with said villains at this exact moment.

Honestly It's lucky that they got you to help because without you they would have been annhilated.

"Alright...just, you should be extra careful"

"Huh...? Why?"

"I fought Mother Spore once"

"You did!?"

No, definitely not, but you are both so you just need to aknowledge it as both identities and nobody will know.

"Yeah... she's more threatening then you think....we need to take them by surprise""

Hmm... Yes, I agree. We'll need to stoppificate a bit before Las Nevadas though, better to get in using stealth."

"Great, I'll tell the others"

Merry Christmas! >w< >:3 A pictures of Snow White and the family!

;w; This was so much more to do than I thought it would be hahaha.

I do have a second Christmas picture planned where the kids are all grown up but my wrists feel like lead. So, even though I'm not going to be able to finish it until after new year's this is my blog and I can do what I want ;w;

But have a merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Read further down for some fun little brain blurbos about me drawing this picture!

I'm so salty I had to cover up Taliesin's amazing outfit, so in the second picture I'm planning on him being more in view so you can see his clothes.

2. You'll notice that most eyes are on Mandragora in the image, because Mandragora is the more chaotic child of the family. Wanting to stand on Nebarra's back for the picture was a last minute thing, which is why most are looking at him.

3. The only two people looking towards the 'camera' are Taliesin and Aidewynn. This is because Aidewynn is a very comely and quiet child. He was told to look at the camera for the picture, so he simply does so without getting distracted, understanding this is a family photo. Taliesin is looking at the camera because its a family photo as well, but also because he wants the moment to be captured, the joy he's feeling at having such a big group of people love him.

4. This idea of Taliesin's happiness and love for his family is continued when he puts his hands on Mandragora's cheek, holding it lovingly as a statement that he views Mandragora just as much as his own son as he views his own daughter Nereid. He's also holding Nereid's hand because he just wants to touch her he's so happy. >w< like, "LOOK AT THIS, THIS IS MY CHILD!!"

5. For a while I've been drawing Nebarra with white sclera even though that's non-existent in pureblood Altmer biology as far as I know. But it occured to me that Aidenwynn has his father's eyes so I finally had to start giving Nebarra yellow eyes bc it would look weird for Aidewynn to have yellow eyes and Nebarra not to.

6. Finally got all the marriage earrings on display! As well as Tali's and Nebarra's wedding rings! Well, minus Snow White/Lorkir, but she never wore the marital earrings, the men did that as a sort of collective joke.

7. I literally had no idea what to put Nereid in. I sort of just figured it out as I went along.

8. I always end up getting so self concious about when I draw Snow's tits. Because I draw them, and then I worry they're too small. So I make them bigger. This is probably why her breast size has been sliiiiightly varied (not that I think anyone notices lol XD). I'm not trying to make her breasts like...disproportionately large, but they have to be big enough to where I find it funny.

9. Nebarra wasn't planning on grabbing Snow's leg but he ended up needing to for balance and he decided 'screw it my hand is already here' and he moved it up to her thigh to see if he could get a reaction out of her and she's gonna kill him for it later.

10. BUT Snow White's not that innocent either because the arm that you can't see is behind Teldryn Sero grabbing his ass.

11. Aidewynn is half hagraven which is why his eyes look like that. He doesn't learn to cast an illusion spell to cover up his eyes until he's about 15.

12. Aidewynn is about 6 years old in this pic, he didn't stop sucking his thumb until he was 7.

13. It irritates me on a personal level that I can't show more of Nebarra's war scars, as they are unfortunately covered up by clothing. Many people have different interpretations of Nebarra, and how I show off MY interpretation of him are the scars he wears.

14. Mandragora has blue eyes because Snow White's eye color is still blue, even AFTER she becomes a God, its just she's so powerful her power shines through her eyes which is why you can't see her natural born eye color. However, in terms of appearance that's the only trait Mandragora has from his mom. That and the highest concentration of dragon blood.

15. Nereid's eyes also have this 'power' effect since she has the strongest magic in the family. Hence why you also can't see her natural born eye color, which is actually NEBARRA'S eye color, greyish-blue. (giving birth to children in a fake mortal body you grew in a test tube is not an exact science).

dess-ember day 31/31

very long thoughts below the read more!

hi yall

woo-hoo, ive finished another month of dess-ember!! it really has been fun, if very time consuming, but ive made many pieces over this month ive loved and had a great time sharing them all with yalls 😄😄😄

but anyways, lets get to the final entry! its a bit of an unusual one :D

its some pixel art!! i have only done 2 other pixel things this month (i originally wanted to do more, but i am very slow at it 😔), so i felt like ending with it wasnt a bad way to go!

i took dess, noelle, berdly, kris, ralsei, and susie and made some different sprites of them, which were taking the way i draw them and making them into sprite version, and also me making omori style versions as well

i had a couple different versions of the art, layed out in different ways, but stinky tumblr only lets me have 10 images. unfortunate 😔.

but anyways, now weve got the main part, each individual character! you can skip past this if you dont want to hear my thoughts i had while doing the individual drawings, its kinda alot :/

i put them all in a format like this, hopefully it isnt confusing!

we can go in order of how i have them in the very first image, so we can start with kris :D

kris was a very fun one to do, they were actually the second one i made, and them turning out so well is what led me to making even more. i feel like im pretty much entirety happy with them, the omori style turned out cute, and the deltarune style isnt half bad either! i did forget to give them bangs though, like i normally give them in my art, but i was too much of a bum to go back and fix it after i finished :|. i feel like they translated very well ❤️

next would be ralsei, but im doing him last actually, because he has the most to talk about 😤😤

now weve got susie! her hair in her canon form was tricky to translate into the omori style, but i think it was worth it, cause it turned out well! and i think her canon dark world omori sprite might be my favorite i made, her outfit turned out great!! im not as fond of my versions of her design, they didnt translate that well into sprites, but it could be worse lol. her face was a bit difficult to do, since the omori head shape is meant for a human, but i think she turned out good regardless 💜

next is berdly, and im so sorry for him, he turned out roughhh. if i thought someone like susie, with her head, was hard to translate into the omori style, it was nothing compared to trying to turn berdly into it. with his beak and his head feathers and wings and his legs... yeah, it was not a fun time 😔. i tried though, and i dont think its entirely bad! the legs are probably the worst part, they are kinda hard to see, but the rest of it came together... kinda. dont get me started on turning my version of him into a sprite though, i dont wanna talk about it 😫. sorry berdly, if i ever sprite you again ill make it up to you 🩵

next is noelle! she was the first i did, and i feel like she turned out so cute 🥰🥰🥰. her dark world, my version, deltarune style sprite might be my second favorite one i made, i think it actually translated well to sprite art. her fur is a bit rough, gradiants are tough in pixel art, but i dont think its that bad overall. but yeah, im pretty happy with her 🤎

penultimatly, weve got dess! gotta have her, its dess-ember after all!! hers was hard to do, trying to take my own design and alter it to make it more canon (mostly, i just simplified some things, but i dont think it looks enough like a canon sprite :( ill keep trying with it), but i think she turned out cute as well! im not entirely happy with it though, as i said, i might go back to fix up the deltarune styled ones at some point 💚

lastly, weve got ralsei. ohhh ralsei, how cute you are, but how difficult you were 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫. to start off with, i had a goal in mind for the deltarune style sprites. normally, when you look at the canon ralsei sprites, you might notice they look a bit different. obviously theres the hat, and the fur color, but its more than that.

theres so many differences, and yet my goal was to make the sprites lose all those differences, and be more consistent with each other. i didnt think it would be too bad, but it was a rough time. i made his hatless version easily, and i was like, oh, ill just add a hat, change his color, itll be easy!! ...it was not easy 😶‍🌫️. i did that and he looked so wrong, it barely even looked like hat ralsei at all 😖.

i mean, that doesnt look right, right?? so i had to keep editing, and changing both versions, trying to make them better. i spent so much longer on him than anyone else, but at the end, i think it was worth it! i feel like he ended up adorable, but boy was it work 😂

the omori sprites of his were pretty easy though, once i had all the deltarune sprites down i just omori-fied them, took barely any time. i did make his outline purple though, like the headspace denizens, since hes a darkner 🩷

but thats it for that! this is where youd wanna skip if you didnt wanna read all that lol. now for me to yap about this month, and dess!

i feel like this was a pretty productive dess-ember!! i definitely ramped up my art from last year, trying to do as few small drawings as possible. was that a mistake? maybe lol. it was certainly difficult, and led to pretty much every drawing being late because most of them took like 8 hours or so, but i suppose a couple hours late doesnt affect much, and i still did all 31 entries!

and id say while it was a struggle, it was a good thing i did it! i enjoyed my time drawing, and sharing all my art with yalls is always a fun time for me ^^ and i really do like drawing dess, i think i made a pretty good design for her all those years ago (like 2) 😊

there is the question though, of 'what about next year? will you do this again??' and to that i say... i dont actually know haha. i would want to, even if im busy i could always do a smaller one, but the real thing that could affect it is that, in 2025 we are getting more deltarune!!! im more excited than i could ever say, but if we see dess in canon, then i dont know if ill do another dess-ember. there would be my design vs canon design, which would be strange to reconcile with, and i imagine someone would probably do an official month for her of art prompts.

but thats all if she even appears. if she doesnt, well, expect me back next december to do this! if she does, ill have to think about it, so we will see then ^^

anyways, ive had a good month doing this! it may be a bit before i post new art, to give myself a break, but ill be back 😄

Truthfully, Jun-ho and Lily weren’t expecting to have a serious relationship for many reasons. 

One is that they live in different countries. Another big one is their age gap. Sure, they’re both adults and eight years apart but the public will see them as brother and sister. Some would also believe they’re uncle and niece. It could be their appearances and personalities. 

Jun-ho is more mature, stern, and brave, yet has goodwill. 

Lily is so full of life, sometimes shy, and intelligent, but she can be childish. 

Nevertheless, the string between the couple couldn’t break. Jun-ho and Lily are inseparable. Even though it wasn’t easy, they found ways to balance out the relationship.

Indeed, Lily had to confess to her family that she wasn’t lying about being in a long-distance relationship. She loved her family and everything they did, but she was afraid they would think it was all foolish, and dating someone continents away from her was absurd. One day, Jun-ho had to commit. He flew to America to be with Lily and introduce himself to her relatives. 

But then it gets more complicated. 

Jun-ho and Lily must choose which country to stay together even if they’re willing to take their relationship further. So, after discussing it for a while, Lily wanted to live in Korea. It was a bittersweet decision, but her family had never seen her so happy and head over heels for someone. Her parents and older sister may be miles apart but she thinks about them daily.

After eating her breakfast pancakes, Lily has to go to work. Most people can agree that no one wants to show up at their job that they don’t enjoy. However, Lily likes being an elementary teacher at a wonderful school. She is excellent with kids. It could just be her sister has a son who is growing up so fast and she babysits him when she used to live in America. But Lily is passionate about shaping young minds and creating a foundation for lifelong learning.

Not to mention, Lily is the kids’ favorite teacher. They love having her around and find her teaching fun. Plus, Lily has gotten better in Korean. She still has her accent and it's a bit choppy when she speaks but can read, write, and understand the language. 

In her bedroom, she picks out an outfit. Since it’s summer, she’ll wear something casual and formal. The young woman takes out a long white dress with pink flowers, a lightweight cardigan, and sandals. She added small bow clips to her hair.

Lily sometimes wishes she was taller because she is short—five feet and one inch but has the brightest energy. Of course, Jun-ho opposes it. He finds it adorable how she goes on her tippy-toes to dig her face into his chest. 

She then leaves and goes to the subway station. The school is in Ssangmun-dong which is quite far from her apartment, but she likes that it is close to Jun-ho’s workplace. Lily would wait for him outside the police station and go home together. Even though they’ve been dating for two years, they don’t share a space. 

Most couples would do it if it’s more than one year but Lily insists she stay in the studio apartment because it’s the only one she could afford. When she first moved to South Korea, Lily once lived with Mrs. Hwang and Jun-ho. Mrs. Hwang adores her almost like a child of her own. She was super glad her youngest child was proud to be with someone like Lily. 

It’s ordinary for the subway station to be hectic. Lily has the patience but won’t be nice if something or someone ticks her off. She is seen as sweet and kind, but no one should get on her bad side. 

After getting her ticket at the fare, Lily waits for her transportation. While she waits, she takes out her phone to text back her family. The time zone is different but it doesn’t mean she can’t stay in touch with her loved ones. Her parents and sister would send short and sweet messages as motivation. 

But what’s upsetting is that she hardly visits America. 

Lily would get homesick and wonder if she’d see her family more. Call it absurd for her to move out of the country, but Lily hopes to have enough money to let them travel to South Korea.

“Good morning, class! Today, we’ll be doing a lot of fun activities, but the best one of them all is art.” 

In unison, the boys and girls cheered happily because they loved to do art. Even though the kids aren’t professional artists, Lily is amazed by their creativity. 

“We’ll be doing art as our last thing of the day. First, we continue with our spelling, addition, and subtraction. I also expect everyone to be on their best behavior. Understand, class?” Lily finished her instructions. 

“Yes, Ms. Lily!” They complied as wonderful listeners. 

When she first dated Jun-ho, she told him she wanted to teach kids and help them grow with strong minds and great hearts. He was impressed. Jun-ho also wanted to help society by protecting and saving the innocent, and locking up the bad guys. His brother, In-ho, inspired him because he was a police officer and taught him to see the different points of view in the world. 

Subsequently, it’s lunchtime.

Lily and her friend, Park Soeun, whom she has known for two years, are having a break together in the garden. 

“You seemed like you’re in a good mood.” Soeun noticed Lily was happier than usual. She instantly knows what's up whenever her friend acts differently. The American woman munches on her kimbap. She replies, “What do you mean? I'm still the same." A chuckle lets out of her lips. However, Soeun raises an eyebrow. Lily rolls her eyes with a smile because her friend is always in her business, which she doesn't mind.

"It's Jun-ho birthday and we'll be throwing a small party at my place after work. I baked a cake, prepared decorations, and a gift.” Lily tells Soeun about the celebration. She sometimes wonders if her friend ever gets tired of her talking about Jun-ho. But Soeun is a lovely woman—optimistic, caring, level-headed, beautiful, and has no filter. 

“Aww, that’s so sweet!” She claps her hands which makes Lily smile. Then she says, “You know, I still can’t get over how you found someone so damn hot like Jun-ho.” Soeun would be called a liar if she didn’t find Jun-ho attractive. Lily giggles blithely. “I’m the female lead of a K-drama.” She humored and they both laughed in content. 

Soeun clears her throat before responding. “I hope you both have a nice day together. I can tell you two are meant for each other.” She gives Lily a dose of generosity. A fun fact about her and Jun-ho is that they met in college and became friends. Lily nodded, “Thank you so much.” She’ll always be thankful for everyone’s cordiality. 

Soeun opens her arms, “Come on. I know you need it.” She said. 

Lily snickers, “I know I do.” and accepts the hug. 

When lunchtime is over and the hours pass, it's close to the end of the day. Lily did promise her students about doing art as the last activity. The classroom is full of joy and excitement. Some of her students are wearing aprons to prevent the paint from staining their clothes and some are coloring away with markers, colored pencils, and crayons. She walks from table to table to see they’re all having fun. 

“Ms. Lily! I made something for you!” 

One of her students approaches to give her a drawing. The student’s name is Boyoung and she is the cutest and excellent learner. Lily turns around to see the little girl’s artwork. Her doe eyes widen. “Oh my goodness! It’s beautiful! Thank you, Boyoung!” She appreciates her and takes the paper. 

Boyoung drew Jun-ho and Lily as a royal prince and a princess. She even wrote their names to show who is who. 

The little girl sends a toothy smile. “You’re welcome! I hope Jun-ho samchon will like it.” Jun-ho had come by to the school whenever he was not on duty. The kids immediately love him because he seems like a hero in their eyes and is gentle with them.

Lily bends down to Boyoung’s level. “He will love it. This is incredible.” She assured the talented child. It’s also a perfect birthday gift.

Evening graces the sky once more with its ambient deep hues.

Lily is cleaning up the room so she can clock out. The day was a success. Everyone behaved, followed directions, and cooperated. But most importantly, they had fun. While organizing the colored pencils, her phone rang at her desk. Lily stopped to see who was calling her. She goes over and checks it. Her pinky lips etched a smile. Mrs. Hwang is calling. 

She picks it up. “Hello, omonim (mother). How are you?” The pleasant voice of the incredible woman who welcomed Lily into her life without hesitation. 

Mrs. Hwang answers, “I’m doing good, dear. I called you because I made dinner for you and Jun-ho to eat and you can pick it up at the house. I don't want to interfere with your guys' moment together."

Lily can feel her spirit has been uplifted.

“Thank you, omonim. Jun-ho and I will be there soon. Also, your presence makes us happy.” Mrs. Hwang is a wonderful woman. Lily will never stop appreciating her.

"You're welcome. When you reach my age, you'll be surprised how good it feels about not having to do extra dishes and purchasing more food." She raised two boys in most of her youth as a single mother. So, she knows when it's time to let them do their own things.

Lily chuckles because Mrs. Hwang once told her stories about how living with boys every day was a challenge. "But still. Jun-ho will always need you, even if he is a grown man." She reminds the older woman. A mother's love is a deep, unconditional, and unwavering love that a mother has for her child.

Mrs. Hwang says, "Yes, indeed. Well, enjoy your night, dear. Bye-bye." She bids goodbye to Lily. After the call, the young teacher continues to tidy up the classroom and turn off the lights. 

Despite the hot summer air in the daytime, the night brings a comforting breeze. All you need to do is soak in the weather.

Lily can never have enough with the city lights of Seoul. She sometimes can’t believe she lives in this country. But her homeland is just as gorgeous. 

Ssangmun-dong Police Department.

Lily waits outside of the building for Jun-ho to change out his uniform. He was once a detective and is now a traffic officer because he figures he is better at controlling road safety and not catching criminals. That’s what Jun-ho reasoned. 

In honesty, Lily didn’t mind him stepping down as a detective. He once told her it was best for his mental and physical health. Lily may not know what it’s like to be in Jun-ho's shoes when he was a detective but she’ll support any decision he makes. Also, from Lily’s perspective, and possibly others would agree, Jun-ho’s strong-willed yet kind personality is super attractive. He is the man of her dreams. 

“My love, are you ready?” 

The soothing, baritone voice erupts the silence. Lily turns her head to see Jun-ho in casual clothes. His raven hair has grown out and looks more shaggy yet fluffier. Lily sometimes hopes he’ll leave it that way. She replies to her lover. “Yes! But first, we have to go to your omonim’s. She made us dinner and we can spend the night at my place.” Lily is stoked because she had the whole week to set up the celebration. 

Jun-ho sees the elation glimmering in her chocolate brown eyes. His exhaustion has been erased because of Lily’s bright energy. Jun-ho grins, “Okay. I’m excited.” He abruptly leans close to his beautiful angel’s face. She gets astounded and immediately moves her head back with red cheeks. “Jun-ho!” Lily squeaks. She isn’t used to publicly displaying affection. Jun-ho chuckled because he was going for a kiss on the lips but he pecked her forehead instead. 

It still makes Lily go crazy. Well, him alone makes her crazy. 

The lovers intertwine hands, head into the car, and drive through the city. 

“Hey, what did you prepare?” Jun-ho asked. He is curious because Lily is great at surprises. She shakes her head with a playful smile. “No! You have to wait!” She is stalling. It would annoy Jun-ho but with Lily, he’ll let it slide. 

“Fine. Ms. Lily.” He obeyed in English. His gaze glances at his girl. She stared at him all timid. He enjoys teasing her and becoming a shy mess. It’s mean of him to make her flustered. But it’s enduring for someone tough and mighty. 

“You’re suddenly chirpy. Is it because it’s your birthday?” Lily inquired about Jun-ho’s peculiar attitude. He isn’t usually this daring on his birthdays. 

Jun-ho responded, “It could be. I had much worse days but I guess I gave enough hope and nothing happened.” He sounds blunt but is sincere. However, Lily is very understanding of his mental state. 

One year into their relationship, she noticed Jun-ho wasn’t his usual self. He would wake up from nightmares which led to sleep deprivation and he had episodes. Jun-ho tried to convince Lily that he was doing fine until the people began to see the denial of being hurt on the inside.

After looking at himself in the mirror, Jun-ho attempted to smile but it automatically dropped. He did his favorite things like boxing but realized he was releasing negative emotions which made him look like he had anger issues. Jun-ho came to his senses that he wasn’t well. 

He asked the two most important people in his life and they helped in a heartbeat. If only he didn’t know what his brother had become.

It is time for

This time the event will be hosted by the green Cure Ocs, who got a little attention this year.

While 2023 was an extremely Precure year this was the opposite and I only barely managed to finish one of the backlog seasons. I'm hoping to get back on track next year and finish the remaining two, and then we're off to new adventures when that opens up slots for a different kid show mahou franchise. It'll be exciting to see which one it ends up being, I guess Doremi has a chance since I already started the first season, but that was also on a whim so anything else can also happen.

We had quite a few contests this year, starting with the favourite Precure (won by Cure La Mer), and there was the Miss Meguca contest about their outfits, with select few major characters from MagiReco (won by Madoka). And that was followed by Miss Meguca contest for casual outfits (won by Konomi) and Halloween outfits (won by Darkness Mitama). And then there was the Christmas outfits, which is still ongoing because I didn't quite have a good moment to put up the final round... Sorry about that, it'll be way out of season once it concludes but that's how it sometimes goes.

I also planned a Magireco swimsuit contest for summer, but since the game shut down at that time I thought it would have been kind of mean since I predict the air around it to be kind of negative. But I'll probably do that next summer.

Magireco shutting down was a shame since even if I didn't play, it had been a good source for new mahou designs. Though new stuff had really slowed down so it wasn't exactly a surprise.

We also had a little Halloween event with my mahou OCs, and looking for video game food items for it was a lot of fun.

Then it's time for the awards!

Best henshin design goes to the main character's Snow White transformation from Märchen Mädchen! Truly an S-tier design that has a lot of good elements but still isn't overdesigned. Let's point out the asymmetry, pale colour palette and white hair, slight gradient, winged shoes and flower colour accents. The miniskirt + long train makes foor a great combo too, it's still recognisable as a magical girl but also looks super cool.

Honourable mention to Berry Blossom from Acro Trip for the simple but super cute strawberry outfit.

Best team design goes to Heartcatch Precure! They're simple and recognisable and also include the season's flower theme.

I also want to give a shoutout to Wonderful Precure because for the first time in like a decade the Cure outfits have a recognisable visual theme going on.

Best powerup design goes to Wonderful Precure Diamond Ribbon style! I like that they're more uniform (probably too uniform since only the skirt part is different but whatever) and I'm a big fan of the way the skirt colours make a gradient.

Also not a powerup but I don't think it's something that needs its own category, but a special mention to the evil clones from the W.i.t.c.h. reboot, I'm always ready for slightly altered designs of the main characters.

Best civilian design goes to Tsubomi, specifically because of her glasses! I just can't get over what a great design element they are, and she even wore them far more often than I expected. I thought she'd completely swap them for contact lenses for marketability but no, they regularly showed up through the season!

Best school uniform goes to Mahonare! It's cute and looks refreshingly different from usual and thus fitting for a magical school. Plus look at the cute little hat! And girls can opt for poofy shorts too!

Honourable mention for the warm brown palette of the Wonderful Precure uniform, plus also giving the shorts option for girls.

Best hair goes to Yuki's civilian hair from Wonderful Precure! For being simple and elegant. I also like her Cure hair except for the "sideburns" whose length feels a bit awkward.

A honourable mention to the little stars in Byakuya's hair in MahoAku.

Best magical item goes to Byakuya's staff from MahoAku! It's simple and doesn't look like a plastic toy.

Hibana's staff (also from MahoAku) isn't bad either.

Best henshin scene goes to Byakuya from MahoAku! It's well animated and and the glowing stars are beautiful.

A shout out to Heartcatch for giving Tsubomi and Erika unique animation for their dual transformation instead of just splicing scenes from their individual henshins together.

Best fan creation goes to Mermaid Melody Encore! It has the benefit for being an extremely favourable comparison to the canon sequel, but it has a lot going for it outside that too, with an interesting premise, likable characters and appealing art.

Best relationship goes to... do I have to give this to SatoIro? I'm not a shipper and I couldn't care less about Iroha, but the confession and date episodes were really good.

Alternatively, Luna and Lis from from Champignon Witch have a really interesting tragic and complicated relationship.

Best mascot goes to Daifuku from Wonderful Precure! Has a quiet but powerful presence, indomitable, doesn't have a shrill voice, never does anything annoying, has an appealing colour scheme and perpetually looks kind of grumpy. This is peak mascot performance.

And since she photobombed the picture, let's also say that Niko has a really funny personality. And I guess a shout out to Wonderful Precure in general for doing something different with the mascots this year.

Best supporting character goes to Shade from Magical Girl Dandelion! I regret to tell I like his tumblr sexyman design and he has a super interesting and fresh dynamic with the main girl.

Best visual goes to the MahoAku title cards! There's somehow a lovely retro vibe to them.

In the general visual category I considered both Mahonare and Mahoaku. Mahonare has a more unique look, but since anime is supposed to be moving pictures I do have to dock some points due to the fact that the animation is clearly struggling. Meanwhile Mahoaku's lovely pastel style is less distinct but also looks consistently good even in moving form.

Best audio goes to All for One Forever from Precure movie F. This song slaps and makes the fight scene it accompanies incredibly epic.

"Conflict between light and darkness" from the Heartcatch OST is also a beautiful piece of music and "Fight for the future" gets you pumped up for a big fight.

The Innovation award is given to a magical girl work that I think does something fresh for the genre. This year it goes to Magical Girl Dandelion for its extremely fresh premise that still doesn't feel too tropey.

The Golden Mana award is the prize given to one thing I didn’t like.

This year it goes to the entirety of Mermaid Melody Aqua. I know I already awarded it to Lucia's design specifically a few years ago and in general I'm trying to avoid repeats, but frankly it would be disingenious to act like Aqua didn't deserve it this year since it turned out to be one of my least favourite manga ever. There's the awful heroine and irritating or irrelevant side cast, the awkward art, the weird fanservice, the lacking storytelling… the list goes on.

Dishonourable mention to the stupid side cast of Mahoaku.

Best character goes to Cure Blossom! The rare shy main Cure, great character arc, lovely design (the glasses!) and in general super sympathetic and likeable. I hope she won't remain the only of her kind among the franchise!

Best work goes to Champignon Witch! Much deliberation went on among the one-person council of Mahou Furbies if it should be eligible for any of the awards since it's clearly not a magical girl series, but then again neither is Petite Princess Yucie and I rewarded it last year. So let it be known that from now on anything I deem mahou enough to warrant a review post on this blog is also qualified for awards.

But anyway, Champignon Witch has a lovely fairytale setting, unique story, likable characters, magical art, melancholic mood and S-tier outfits. I'm really looking forward to the anime next year!

If you think only actual magical girl works should qualify, then you can think that Magical Girl Dandelion is the winner; so far there aren't a lot of chapters out of it yet so even on that grounds it might be a bit too early for it, but for what there is to judge I've liked everything about it. Heartcatch Precure is also a good contender, but it does have the typical kid show tropes holding it back so it's harder for a Precure season to win when there's actual competition aimed at an older audience.

Plans for 2025:

I also intend to get back to MagiPro, finally reading Aces was really fun but then I hit the Episodes filler books and the progress halted.

The new Madoka Exedra game is also coming out, though I'm not particularly excited. I have no intention of playing it (gacha eww), and also since it's 3D I'm under the impression that adding new characters requires more effort, which would probably mean less new or obscure characters and more focus on the old favourites.

Art-wise I want to create the missing green Cures for the three newest seasons at least, and also finally do something more with the DPPC. Though that's what I say every year...
